Rich and Marie Glass have many adventures growing and selling African violet starts as owners of Black Oak Violets. Their plants are raised in their home so that they thrive in yours. Marie loves to collect the unique blossoms of the Russian Hybrids, unusual leaf, bloom and growth patterns and micro-mini varieties.
Rich is a retired electrician and he loves to create from Marie’s ideas. Marie is retired from 36 years in the public school art room. She gets great pleasure from the beauty of her plant space.
When not caring for the plants, they are active in the community as Lions, as well as drivers for Meals on Wheels. Marie volunteers at “The Factory”, a community center in the small town of Paradise, PA where she teaches participants how to have success with African violets as they start their own collection on their way to becoming “Purple People”.
