Bird’s Botanicals is a new vendor participating in the AVSA convention this year. Some people may remember touring the ‘Orchid Cave’ here in Kansas City almost 10 years ago. Well, that is us, just no longer in the caves and growing more than just Orchids. David Bird’s daughter, Vashti Kern, is fairly new to African Violets and the Gesneriad family but is learning and very much enjoying the diversity and beauty the plant group brings.

In our booth you will be able to find lots of color! Lots of Orchids, some streptocarpus, and other unique, easy to grow plants. What may be the most interesting to all you African Violet collectors is a companion plant that grows right alongside your violets that will eat all your fruit flies and gnats! The Butterwort or Pinguicula is a carnivorous plant that produces a sticky substrate on the leaves and traps all your bugs! And they produce a violet-colored bloom!!
