AVSA Society Awards
Society Awards are presented at the annual AVSA Conventions. The awards are not given away lightly. Award winners change the African violet world in some way. AVSA is forever grateful for the tremendous dedication and untold hours of service to those who receive any of the awards listed below.
- Bronze Medal for Horticultural AchievementAwarded for both scientific and horticultural contributions. The recipient need not be an AVSA member.
- Certificate of AppreciationNeed description
- Citation for Outstanding ServiceNeed description
- Continuing ServiceNominees will have already received an Honorary One-Year Membership Award and have continued to give outstanding service to AVSA.
- Distinguished ServiceGiven to those members who have continued to give outstanding service to the Society. The member must have first received an Honorary One-Year Membership and an Honorary Life Membership.
- Hall of FameMost prestigious award to recognize those individuals who have made unique and long-standing impact on the history of the Society. Nominee should be one who has served the Society in one or more capacities for at least fifteen (15) years and not held elected office in the previous five (5) years.
- Honorary Life MembershipOnly one Honorary Life Membership may be awarded in any one year for outstanding services to the Society. Each President upon retiring their office receives an Honorary Life Membership.
- Honorary One Year MembershipAwarded in recognition for outstanding contributions to AVSA. Up to five (5) awarded per year.
- Hudson MemorialAwarded for outstanding leadership activities within an affiliated chapter.
- Meritorious ServiceAwarded to thank individuals for special service to AVSA.
